A DAY IN THE LIFE – WINTER 2018

I looove reading other people’s day in the life posts. They are some of my all time favorites to read! Something about seeing how other people do life – it’s just so interesting to me. It’s been a while since I gave you a peek into a regular old day around here so I thought it was about time! I work in an office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday then from home as needed on Tuesday and Thursday. I decided to document a Thursday because a regular work day would probably be super boring. Oh, we were also doing a Whole30 at this time, so there is a lot about that in here, too.

4:15 My alarm goes off and I lay in bed a few minutes and check the notifications on my phone before getting up. I’m much more of an early morning person than a night owl so I’ve started embracing that. Some days I work out in the morning but most days I work/blog/catch up on blogs/whatever during my early morning time.


4:30 Up and making a cup of coffee number one of the day. My go to Whole30 combo is the Starbucks Veranda flavored Kcups and vanilla Nutpods. I never thought I could live without my old coffee creamer (Silk Almond Milk Vanilla) but this is so yummy to me now.


4:45 Settle in at my kitchen counter with my coffee and Bible. I’m trying to keep up with the She Works His Way Bible Reading Plan (with the goal being reading the entire Bible within a year) and I’m already falling behind. Off to a solid start! 😉 After reading though a little bit of Job I work on a blog post about our Disney trip (find it here!) until Camden wakes up.

6:30 Get Camden up, change his diaper, get him a cup of milk, and set him up with an episode of Magic School bus while I meal plan and make a grocery list for the coming week. I do our meal planning and grocery shopping every Thursday which is a little random but it’s just what works best for us in this season!

7:00 Make breakfast for Camden, Nathan, and myself. Nathan and I have two hash browns, two eggs, and a half of an avocado. Camden asks for a pancake (the ones in the frozen section of Aldi are our jam!) so I make him one. He has zero interest in fruit since his stomach bug a couple of days ago so I don’t argue when he turns down a banana which is the only fruit we have left.

7:15 We all eat breakfast together. Camden notices our eggs and decides he needs one of those, too. I’m just happy his appetite is back so I make his second breakfast with no argument.


7:45 Cleaning up the kitchen (so. many. dishes. during, Whole30.) and make a batch of Whole30 approved taco seasoning.


8:00 We don’t have to be anywhere at a particular time today so we head into the play room for a while. Our time mainly consists of playing stickers (the sticker obsession is real) and reading every book on the shelf.


8:30 Both of us get dressed for the day. It’s comfy and cozy for this cold day of errands.


9:07 We load up in the car. I have to go back in because I forgot the Aldi bags. Then I go back in a second time because I forgot my list. Honestly…


9:15 I put one headphone in and listen to a podcast while we drive. Camden is heavy in the “we have to listen to the same song over and over” stage and I can not listen to “Boom Pop Pop” from our latest Kindermusik CD one more time. I use my time to listen to the newest episode of True Crime Obsessed. So hilarious.


9:30 We stop at the library to pick up a book I placed on hold and to let Camden run around the kids area for a while. Not before he screams “HI MOOSE!” over and over though thanks to the stuffed moose who has become the greatest source of his happiness.


Different puzzles are one of our other favorite parts of the library!


10:30 We are off to Aldi to do our grocery shopping for the week! We have saved $200-$300 A MONTH since I started almost exclusively grocery shopping at Aldi. I’m thinking of doing a post or two with some weekly meal plans and how we do it. Is that something you all would be interested in?


11:30 Someone can’t stop sneaking grapes while I put the food away so I hurry and finish so I can make him some lunch.

12:15 Camden is done with lunch and actually playing on his own in the playroom. THIS NEVER HAPPENS. So I use my moments of freedom to prep dinner. We are having some family over which makes me a little nervous since we are doing Whole30. I put the stuff for this soup in the slow cooker and hope for the best since I’ve heard good things.


12:30 Two books, one song, and he is down for a nap!

12:40 My house is a disaster so I set a timer for 5 minutes and try to pick up what I can in that time. It actually takes me 9 minutes to clean up the kitchen and tidy my living room and bed room, so I call that a huge win.


12:50 I sit down to start working and realize I haven’t eaten. I warm up some leftover buffalo chicken and throw it over some broccoli salad.

1:00 Get down to business. Responding to emails, booking events, schedule social media posts, and checking on some current promotions. The time flies. How are these always the fastest two hours of the day?!

2:40 This kid’s internal clock is insane. Exactly two hours after he closes his eyes he is awake. I need to finish what I’m working on so I turn on Secret Life of Pets and let him watch for a few minutes.

3:00 A Level 5 Meltdown takes place over the fact that I won’t let him eat his snack on the couch. I deem TV DONE for the day and redirect by asking if he wants to go outside.


3:30 Did I mention there was white stuff all over the ground? Mom of the year right here. There isn’t much I hate more than the cold.


4:15 Inside changing clothes and working on dinner. Cam is a huge help in the kitchen 😉

Annnd this is where I fell off the train. I spent the rest of the night finishing up dinner and enjoying time with some family and their precious new baby. There’s nothing like baby snuggles. Nothing!
