A DAY IN THE LIFE – OCTOBER 2018

I’ve been meaning to do another day in the life post for a while now but never remember my intentions early enough in the day to begin documenting. When I woke up on Monday (at a VERY obscene time let me just say) it was one of the first things on my mind so I made it happen!

This wasn’t a totally typical Monday but life has been all over the place lately so in that sense it was very fitting. Hope you enjoy!

3:30 AM – I get up to use the bathroom (which happens like clockwork at 12:30 and 3:30 AT LEAST very night) and feel wide awake. I lay there for a few minutes with no change so I pull out my phone and mess around on it for a while.

4:30 – Not feeling sleepy at all so I go ahead and get out of bed. It’s October 1st so I grab my pumpkin cup to celebrate. I make my current favorite coffee combo of these life changing Kcups and vanilla almond milk creamer before sitting down to my computer.

4:45 – I have a feeling one of the reasons I couldn’t sleep was thinking of all the work I needed to do so I get right to it while listening to this book on audio. The business I work for is actually closed to the public this week so I go through what feels like 50 different websites updating our hours. Let me just say, changing your hours on all the different websites (your own, Google, Bing, Trip Advisor…the list goes on and on) is one of the most annoying parts of running a business in 2018. #endrant

5:00 – Camden sits up in bed and says “Mama!” Uhhh NOPE.

5:45 – Done with my work so I head to Bloglovin and read a few new posts. I read Shay’s fall decor post which leads me to remember that I wanted to order these Halloween plates for Camden this year. But when I get to the website I see they are already sold out. Whomp whomp. It’s only October 1st! Maybe next year.

6:45 Camden is waking up for real so I finish up what I’m doing and head in to get him. Knowing we would be “celebrating” Oct. 1st today I made sure he went to bed in these pajamas. Bring on all the holiday themed jammies from now until the end of the year! Cam messes around in the playroom and then wants to feed the dog.

7:05 I’ve gone into another room and hear the words “Needs to go potty!” coming from Camden’s bathroom. I head in there only to find it’s Daniel Tiger who needed to go potty, not Camden. Someday.

7:10 – Camden continues to play while I pick up around the house. I do a few things in his room and clean the counters in the kitchen with my favorite Mrs. Meyer’s scent ever. Side note: We usually head into work first thing on Monday morning but we are doing some maintenance/cleaning this week while we are closed and I’m waiting to hear from my boss if we are cleaning the carpet today or not. If so, they don’t like me to be there since I’m so pregnant.

7:20 Camden asks to make a “shoo shoo” aka a smoothie and I happy oblige. We still use this recipe I shared earlier this year and it’s still his favorite!

Cam loves the pregnancy pillow just as much as me.

7:30 – Camden settles into our bed with his smoothie and an episode of Super Wings. I make myself a smoothie (frozen banana, almond milk, spinach, and one scoop each protein powder and powdered PB is my fave!) and drink it while I put in a load of laundry, clean up the kitchen from our smoothie making, and make Camden’s bed.

Big boy room details coming soon, I promise!

I had to snap a pic of my own PJs because I am quite literally living in these pants any time I’m at home.

8:00 – I start getting myself ready. I go with something super casual because I’m not sure if we are going into work or working from home. And anyways it’s a “manual labor” kind of work day for everyone else so I’m sure I’ll fit right in even if they won’t let my pregnant behind do anything but supervise or sit at my desk.

8:25 – I call into work to see what’s going on. They aren’t doing the carpets today so I start to pack up lunch and get Camden ready to head in.

8:45 – Out the door for work.

9:00 – We get to work and Camden is highly amused by all the work that’s going on. He also brought along his own tools so he can help. We watch for a few minutes before heading up to the office where he plays toys and I look over all the paperwork and reports from the weekend.

10:00 – He NEEDS to stand on my desk to reach and pick out his own coloring book and in doing so spills water all over my planner.

10:20 – Camden plays playdough while I work at my desk. “Wook! I maked a roll-der coaster, mom!”

10:45 – He wants a snack and I offer him his lunch since it’s close to time anyways. I heat up some leftover mac ‘n cheese and grab his apple sauce. I decide I need a snack too and eat my favorite chicken salad (found at Aldi) with some Tostidos.

12:30 – There’s a lot of chaos and power tool working happen at the business today so I decide to take him home for nap. It’s been such a struggle lately and I have a ton of work to do. I stop by CVS to pick up a prescription for Nathan then swing by Starbucks for a little pick-me-up after my 3am wake up. I actually get a decaf drink but am hoping it tricks my brain into thinking it’s getting caffeine.

1:00 – We’re home and Cam is a little hungry from his early lunch so I let him have some goldfish and watch “a couple minutes” of a show on Netflix. He chooses Little Baby Bum. Ugh.

1:15 – Head to his room for nap. It’s not too much of a struggle today and this tired mama is very grateful. We read “Happy Halloween, Stinky Face” in his “castle” aka tent. He gets in his bed after a little persuasion (threatening) and we snuggle while I rub his back and sing a few verses of Hallelujah.

1:38 – I hop in my bed with an episode of Dateline (the most recent episode was about a murder in my town!) and do some more work.

2:00 – I get a push notification from Target that they are having a denim sale so I check to see if my favorite pair ever are included. They are so I take a break and post about the sale on my Facebook and Instagram. (Pssst! That sale is still going on!) Then get back to work.

4:15 – The monster is awake and we head to the playroom together. He sees the Little People Nativity up on a shelf in the closet and needs to get it down to play with. (Here is a link to the kitchen as well because I always get questions about it) 🙂

4:45 – Camden is “washing dishes” while I switch the laundry from this morning. Whoops.

5:00 – A friend brings over dinner and she and her two littles hang out for a bit. Our friends have loved us so well these last few weeks! I get teary just thinking about it. I’m sooo grateful!

5:45 – They leave and we eat a delicious baked spaghetti dinner that I did not make. Amen.

6:30 – While opening the mail Nathan found that we got the confirmation for our Polar Express Experience in French Lick. We all completely lose our Oct. 1st chill and decide to watch the Polar Express tonight. Nathan gets Camden ready for bed and I fold laundry while they start watching the movie.

I’m not huge on character stuff but I had to grab these t-shirts while we were at Target last week.

7:15 – I grab one of my latest Aldi finds (that sparkling cider is delicious!) and sit down on the couch with the boys.

7:45 – Nathan and Camden head in to start bedtime and I eat a cookie (so many cookies consumed lately) and take off my makeup and remove my contacts before hopping in our bed.

8:10 – I’m in bed with Crazy Rich Asians (almost done!) and I’m sure I’m asleep before 9:00 with the super early morning I had. Nathan watches some Ozark until Lord knows when.

Whew! What a day.
