WEEK(END) REWIND

Hi friends! Well, a lot has happened since the last time I shared some “real life” on the blog and I’m going to work on Lucy’s birth story this week, I promise. As some of you know, it’s a doozy but a story worth telling for sure! For now, here’s what we’ve been up to for the last week or so:

This week we participated in one of our favorite holiday traditions – a one mile walk through a holiday light show in our town! I was so grateful to be two weeks PP and feeling well enough to do this because Camden was SO obsessed and precious. I think he pointed and screamed “WOOK AT DAT ONE, MOM/DAD!” to every single display.

Little miss joined in on the holiday action, too! It was super sweet to be able to have her there with us. Even if she did scream for the 15 seconds she was in the stroller so I had to hold her in my coat the entire time. 😉

I made a version of my Whole30 broccoli salad with creamy dressing this week using random ingredients I had on hand and it turned out so well! Actually, the homemade mayo DIDN’T turn out at all but luckily I had just enough of this pre-made kind to make it work. All this is to say, this recipe is so versatile – just add what you’ve got on hand and you have a super easy, delicious, healthy lunch on hand for a few days!

I can not tell you how much I love this $16 (with Prime shipping!) top from Amazon. It comes in 11 different colors and I need at least three more of them. I sized up to a large but it definitely has more than enough room so I would suggest staying true to size or even sizing down if you are in between. The buttons are functional making it perfect for breastfeeding (the struggle is real to find cute tops that are BFing friendly, am I right?) but super cute even if you aren’t! Shop the whole look here:

The inside and outside of our halls are finally decked! Nathan did such an amazing job with the lights on the outside of our house that they keep tripping a circuit that also controls our garage door. So luckily we have all these beautiful Christmas lights to look at when we are locked out of our house…

Camden is completely, utterly OBSESSED with his little sister and I can not get enough! He asks for her as soon as he wakes up and wants to know where she is at all times. He also pats her head and says “It’s ok baby girl” whenever she is crying. Melt.

We ventured out to somewhere other than a doctor’s office or Target last week with a trip to the library. On this is approximately one thousandth trip Camden looked at me and said “There’s a wot of books here, mom!” Maybe now we won’t have to do the same eight puzzles multiple times every visit. Fingers crossed.

Little sister is finally back at her birth weight and nursing like a champ. She’s finally waking herself up to eat and it has been a total game changer! If you have never had the pleasure of trying to wake a preemie to eat I’m here to tell you it’s almost impossible, super frustrating, and seems 10x more dramatic in the middle of the night.

Our Elf returned from the North Pole on Saturday morning bearing new Christmas books for both kids, donuts, and bagels for mom and dad. Such a thoughtful elf!

After we got our blood sugar all out of whack with our donut and chocolate milk breakfast our friends from Photorexit Photography came over for a little family/newborn session! It was a solid hour of trying to get a two year to hold his sister and smile so I’ll let you guess how productive that was.

Side note: We must be doing something wrong as a parents because bribery does not work on our child. I promised him everything short of a trip to Disney World and there was still somewhere close to zero smiles. Hopefully Jason and Katie were able to work their magic and get a few where he looked like he likes us!

We ended our weekend with church, a trip to Target, and decorating my mom’s Christmas tree. Camden only broke two glass heirloom ornaments so I guess we can consider that a win.

Hope you all have a great week! I’m hoping to get the rest of my gift guides (kids, bestie/sister, and mom/MIL) up and maybe my postpartum essentials. Wish me luck. 😉
