Day in the life posts are always the most requested and even though it can be a pain to remember to take pictures and notes while I’m in the thick of the day, they are my absolute favorite to look back on! It’s been a while since I’ve done one and wanted to document a maternity leave day before we head back to work and everything looks differently!
1:30 I wake to find Camden in our bed. He has never slept in our bed before (barring a few times we’ve tried and failed when he was sick) because neither Nathan or I likes to torture ourselves by being kicked in the face while we sleep. I’m too tired to think much about it and fall back to sleep.
3:45 Lucy wakes to dream feed. I don’t turn on any lights, unswaddle her, or change her diaper because she has been mixing up her days and nights and I’m trying hard to get her on the right track.
3:56 Lucy is back in her bed (she sleeps in our bathroom lol) and I’m debating if I’m getting up or going back to sleep as Nathan wakes and asks me “How did this happen?” (referring to Camden in our bed) and I tell him I’m not sure. I lay play on my phone for a while.
5:00 I’m super tired and try to go back to sleep.
5:15 Camden wakes up ready to begin his day. More sleep was a fail. I try to convince him to lay down for a few more minutes before throwing in the towel. People who like to sleep with your children, God bless you.

5:45 Camden come to the kitchen and asks for some milk. While I do that he asks for a applesauce pouch and Goldfish. I don’t argue with 2 year olds at 5am so I give him a few and turn on his Paw Patrol “DBD” then I sit down and turn on my computer to try to get a few work tasks done. Image may be NSFW.

6:00 Lucy wakes up crying.
6:20 Lucy is fed, changed, swaddled and starting to fall back asleep. Then her father starts laughing and talking loudly about some Below Deck tweets he’s reading (my own fault for tagging him in a meme I saw on Instagram) and she’s awake again. Nathan keeps an eye on her while I jump in the shower.

6:35 Out of the shower, dressed, and pore strips on, lol. Camden asks what is on my face and I tell him band aids which causes him to ask me a million times if I’m ok.

6:45 Get Lucy dressed after admiring her Marie Kondo-ed drawers. Organization makes me so happy! Have you all been sucked into this yet?

BEST Headbands ($16 for TEN) | Dot Romper
I looove her outfit, it’s one of the few shes owns that I actually bought myself instead of being gifted. A few minutes later Nathan starts mooing at her (men) and now I’m not sure I can make her wear it again. Cutest cow ever!

7:30 I’m done getting ready so I snap a selfie with my best girl and head to get Camden dressed. I prepare myself mentally for the fight that will ensue. Sitting still is hard when you are two.

7:45 Start making breakfast for myself (I have a smoothie most mornings) and Camden asks for one too so I make his first. I still use this exact recipe for hi, and he still loves it! Mine is usually a scoop of this protein powder, PB powder, 2 cups almond milk, a frozen banana, and a huge bunch of spinach.

7:50 Lucy is content in her bed (she is obsessed with those birds) and Camden is playing nicely. We don’t have to leave for school for 25 more minutes and I’m tempted to use the time do some work but pick up my bible study instead. I’m slowly working through this one and really enjoying it!
8:00 I’ve gotten two pages done and now Lucy is crying. I decide it’s a better use of our time to go ahead and nurse her before we leave.
8:11 I’m done feeding Lucy so I brush my teeth and we head to the car.
8:17 Still trying to get in the car. One of us is having an epic meltdown (thank you early wake up) that results in a time out and tears for us both.
8:30 Drop Camden off at pre-school and run to work to do a couple of quick things.
9:40 Back in the car and heading to an eye doctor appointment for me.

Diaper Bag
10:47 Waiting for the contact lady to finish our order. Wowza, what an appointment. Notice the outfit change? Lucy hates the car seat and was crying her head off from the moment we walked in so I took her out resigning myself that I was just going to have to hold her the whole time. Once I took her out I realized there was poop EVERYWHERE. This one never ever ever makes things easy on me.

11:23 In the pick up line at pre-school. Someone has decorated their name sign with Paw Patrol stickers…

11:55 We’re home and I’m starving so I start making lunch. “Peanut Butter Jelly Time” for Camden (thanks to the song) and leftovers of this over a little rice for me. Lucy is sleeping in her car seat and I leave her there while keeping an eye on her.
12:15 Lucy is stirring in her seat so I double time eating my lunch. She ends up falling back asleep.
12:30 Camden is finishing his lunch. I clean out the car and restock the diaper bag. Throw the blowout laundry in the washing machine.

12:35 Camden and I head into his room for nap preparations. We ready a book, probably this one because it’s the current favorite, snuggle in his bed while we listen to the same sleepy song we have since he was born, then I head out of the room.
12:55 He’s asleep and I clean up the house a little more
1:15 Lucy is still asleep in the car seat (THIS NEVER HAPPENS) but it’s been almost 5 hours since she’s eaten so I wake her up to nurse.

1:45 She’s fed and doing tummy time while I check my email. I’m not back in the office yet but pretty much doing almost all the other functions of my job from home at this point.
2:00 I call my boss and talk through some work stuff.
3:00 Finish up work for my job and move to doing some work for our church. I’m in charge of our campus’ social media so I schedule a few things to go live on Facebook and Instagram over the next few days.

iPad Case
3:20 Camden is up. I need to finish a few things on my computer before we leave for our haircuts so I let him play on the iPad for a few minutes.
4:01 Heading out the door for hair cuts for Camden and I. We are a little early (NEVER HAPPENS) so I use the extra time to clean trash out of the car and get gas on the way.
4:30 Time to get our hair cut! I usually take Camden to a walk in kid’s cut place but we tried to go yesterday, waited for an hour, and still had several people in front of us so we bailed. Camden behaves really well but acts more shy than I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t think he said any words besides “thank you” while we were there.

4:50 His haircut is done (so handsome!!) and he plays on the iPad and eats a sucker while he waits for Nathan to get off work and come pick him up. I’m getting my hair cut and colored and there’s no way I expect him to sit there for two hours while all that happens.

5:15 Nathan picks up Camden but Lucy stays with me. I try to put her in the wrap but she is not having it. Major eye roll. I was planning to do a little work but since I only have one hand, I stick with my book.
7:15 Lucy and I are home from the salon. I eat and nurse her while Nathan gets Camden ready for bed.
8:00 Nathan and Camden head to Camden’s room for bedtime.

8:45 Lucy nurses one more time and then is asleep in her bed. Which is in our bathroom, lol. She isn’t ready to be in her own room yet (it’s right next to Camden’s and her wailing wakes him up) but she also will not sleep with any sort of light or noise happening so we put her in our bathroom. It sounds weird but it’s working for now!
9:30 I’ve finished my book (SO good, HIGHLY recommend) and am getting tired so I turn off the light and go to sleep!
Whew! It seems like a lot when you write it all out like that. We are actually heading back to work today so any extra wishes or prayers you could send our way for a smooth transition would be very appreciated!
