Hi friends! I hope you all had a good Easter. Our’s was crazy and busy but we had a blast and made so many good memories. Camden is still talking about how much fun he had!
Of course we had to stretch the Easter fun for as long as we could so a few days prior we decorated cookies and dyed eggs. Target had these sugar cookie decorating kits for $4.99 in the Easter section and you better believe I felt very understood by Target in that moment. Four pre-baked cookies with icing and sprinkles? I literally have to do nothing extra? YES PLEASE. Cam loved it, of course!
I mean, don’t you want to eat those?! Quick story about that pile of sprinkles in front of him. He built those up and told me “Jesus is sleeping under the rocks but then the angels will come save him!” So grateful these truths are being planted in his little heart!
We used the egg dying kit I bought at Aldi last year and never used which is probably why our eggs look tie-dyed. Ps. All three of those band aids are completely unnecessary.
Easter morning some bunny was so excited they couldn’t sleep. I think Camden was more excited for the Easter bunny to visit our house than he was for Santa to come, for real. He was up a few times around 3am checking on things and kept saying “the Easter bunny is coming!”.
I had set my alarm for 5:00 to get up to hide eggs and set out baskets but I must have snoozed because Camden woke me up at 5:30 by coming into our room. I was so worried he was going to be up for good and I’d have to explain why the Easter bunny hadn’t come but he went back to his bed with no issues. We actually had to wake him up at 7am (the latest he’s slept in months) go get things going so we wouldn’t be late for church!
Before coming out to his basket and eggs we read this book with Camden in his room. It’s my favorite for explaining the REAL reason we celebrate Easter to little ones. That book has maybe my favorite line in a book ever inside, “He died so we can live too.” It’s really that simple, guys!!
After he opened his basket we headed to the front yard to find some eggs. He had to stop at each one, open it, and dump the contents into his bucket. I had a mix of a few mini Thomas trains, underwear (Is that weird? He loved it!), and Hershey’s eggs. Next year I’ll probably skip candy all together because outside of the few pieces he ate while he hunted he hasn’t asked for any more. He’s just not that kind of guy!
Lucy’s bow is from this set
Baby girl missed most of the morning fun but dang she looked cute in her Easter outfit!
My dress is from Amazon here
After hunting eggs and eating this breakfast casserole we packed up for church and a day of visiting family, more yummy food, egg hunts, and more treats than real food for Camden. It was a whirlwind of a day but so worth it!
It was a very PAW Patrol (the fact that I even know to capitalize the letters of the first word is not something I’m proud of) Easter for this guy. Between us and all three sets of grandparents all of his baskets had some sort of PAW Patrol item in them. Puzzles, PJs, towels, buckets, stuffed animals. I’m pretty sure the words “We will never have all that character stuff in our house!” before I became a parent. But guys, it makes him SO happy. Who am I to deny him that just because of what I think? That’s silly.
I failed yet again to get a family photo, boo. I swear my brain is always thinking 10 steps ahead and it didn’t cross my mind until we were all home and napping!
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!
