I’m currently listening to Lindsey Stirling’s Christmas album from 2017 AND I’m telling you about it so clearly I’ve just about lost all my holiday chill. We also watched Home Alone 1 and 2 this week and none of us are sorry about it. Halloween can not come and go fast enough! We did a ton of Halloweeny/fall stuff last weekend and not we are all ready for Christmas. Please tell me we are not alone in this!
This week flew by (except for the hours of 4-7pm of course…) and we have zero plans for the weekend. Maybe we’ll get out the Christmas stuff! Jk jk. Whatever you are doing this weekend I hope you enjoy these 5 things from our week!
1. Wilstem Ranch

Last Friday we drove about an hour and a half away from Evansville to check out Wilstem Ranch! For those of you familiar with the area, it’s just past French Lick. So a really doable drive, even for a half day trip. Wilstem is a wildlife preserve with a drive thru “safari” and tons of different animal encounters. They are also doing a Halloween light show the whole month of October and will have a Christmas one in December! I actually saw a billboard for it on the way to Trader Joe’s in Louisville a few weeks ago and made a metal note. So billboards still work, ha!
All four of us LOVED this whole experience! We bought our tickets online the day before and were honestly kind of nervous it wouldn’t be worth the price ($25ish/person for the safari and light show – Lucy was free since she’s not yet two!) but it was SO worth the price. You can buy cups of food for $2 each (bring cash) to feed the animals on the safari drive and it’s…really an experience, ha! The animals walked right up to your car and were not shy at ALL about sticking their heads right in your window.
With the purchase of your safari ticket you also get to go in one of their barns where they have a giraffe, kangaroos, birds, goats, and a ton of other small animals! You can pay for food (again, $2) so we fed the giraffe and Camden actually begged to get in the room with the HUNDREDS of birds and feed them. Lucy went in too! I was floored at how brave they both were. You could also pay to have an encounter with the kangaroos but neither Nathan or I was brave enough to do that so we told Camden no when he saw some other kids in the enclosure with them. Call me crazy guys but wild animals (or what should be wild animals) freak me out and I’d like to keep a wall between us please and thank you.
Once it was dark they opened up the Halloween light show so we drove through it twice and then headed home. Highly recommend this whole experience!
2. Amazon Finds

I shared a few of these pieces earlier this week in the post about my recent Amazon purchases so I wanted to give you a pic of what they look like on! This top is so pretty for fall (or even holiday!) and is a great quality for the price. I would recommend sizing up one size. These mules are also an Amazon find and I LOVE them. I gave an up close look at both of them in my Instagram story so head to my Oct. Amazon highlight over there if you want to see that. I also linked my whole outfit over on my Facebook page if you are interested in the other pieces!
3. Recent Reads
I’ve been on an suspense audiobook kick the last few weeks and have read some good ones…and some not so great ones.
You Are Not Alone– I really like this author duo and was excited to see this on my library’s app! Overall, I really liked it though it did drag a little in some places. Worth checking out if you liked An Anonymous Girl or The Wife Between Us by this same pair of authors!
One By One– Ugh, you are KILLING me, Ruth Ware! Do not waste your time with this book. It’s very boring and predictable. I have such high hopes every time I see Ruth Ware is putting something new out because The Woman in Cabin 10 and In a Dark, Dark Wood are two of my all time favorite suspense novels. I haven’t even attempted to read her last few releases based on the synopsis and reviews I read but One by One sounded promising.
The End of Her– Another new release from an author I love. I really, really liked this one! It kept me guessing about who was lying and what their motives were right up until the end. This was probably my favorite of the bunch!
I’m currently listening to The Wife Stalker from the author who did The Last Mrs. Parrish and it’s REALLY good so far. It has been spiking my anxiety though so I should probably take a break from the suspense and do something a little more lighthearted when I’m done with it lol. Anyone have any Christmasy reads they recommend?!
I’m going to leave it at 3 today, friends! I feel like that was pleeenty of content and there is a Peloton ride starting in 10 mins I want to hop on. Have a great weekend!
