Life Lately, Vol. 1

Lately I’ve been missing documenting our everyday life in a more permanent way than Instagram stories. I love looking back at old posts from years ago remembering leisurely Sunday afternoons spent reading a whole book (that would have been pre-kids of course) or random days at home with Camden. All that to say, I’m going to make an effort to document more of our daily life again in this space.

The problem is it’s been so long since I’ve talked about life I’m not really sure where to start so we’ll see where this goes, lol.

Softest sweater ever – On major sale!

A few weeks ago my Valentine and I snuck away to Louisville for the day – solo! We had lunch, checked out our couch in person (our delivery date keeps getting pushed farther out), and hit up Trader Joe’s. It was Nathan’s first time so we took our time and looked at alllll the things. It was fun! Dates have been almost non-existent for the last year so it was much needed. Love this life we have created, boo. Even if we are never alone and can’t see each other’s faces in public.

The softest long sleeve tee, vest, joggers…aka my go-to outfit this winter on non-work days. Comfy for the car line or running errands but also makes me feel a little more put together than wearing sweats if we are around the house! These Amazon sneakers have become my go-to for the days we don’t have snow on the ground. Size up a full size, though! They run small.

My blush beanie | My sunglasses | My coat | My belt bag

A few weeks ago I made my way to Big Sky, Montana for my sister’s bachelorette weekend! It. Was. Incredible. Not only because I was able to spend time with my sisters or because traveling has also been non-existent for the last year but also because I was completely surprised with how much I loved Montana. I’ve always considered myself a beach vacay type of girl but now I want to take everyone I know to Montana! You just don’t get views like this in Indiana.

The absolute highlight of the trip was dog sledding! I honestly wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about it (again, not typically a mountain adventure girl) but once we got there you just couldn’t help but to catch the dogs excitement. They were completely losing their minds excited to go! And the views on the actual ride were just indescribable. Dodging dog poop so it didn’t hit us in the face at one point was also something I probably won’t forget!

Of course we did allll the Valentine’s Day things, too! Pre-school was cancelled the day the kids were supposed to have their class parties due to snow and ice so I really tried to make our days at home more fun. We did some easy crafts and decorated heart-shaped sugar cookies. I’m so thankful that I’m finally at a place where these things don’t completely overwhelm me anymore. A few months ago a simple craft or the mess of cookie decorating would have sent me in to a full-blown panic attack. Hoping to write more about my anxiety journey soon!

How Sweet Eats heart shaped pizza has been a Sansing family Valentine’s staple since before these two were born! I’ve just doubled my helpers. Image may be NSFW.

The Splendid Box Co. sensory boxes I got for the kids were a HUGE hit! Sis got a Frozen themed one and Camden’s was Paw Patrol! My friend Nikki has been KILLING it with her boxes. They are the best I’ve seen, hands down!

MLK Book | Rosa | LBT Valentine | Huggy Kissy

We also added some gems to our library on Vday! Little Blue Truck is always great so the new Valentine version did not disappoint. Lucy loved “her” Huggy Kissy book, too. The real stars of the show were the Little People, Big Dreams books my sister Gretl sent them! Both books she sent have great stories but they aren’t watered down to make white people feel better – if that makes sense. There are many books in the series and all of them come in board book or hardcover for older kids. We will be adding more of these to our library! They are great for starting conversations with younger kids about Black History Month, too.

Well, my daughter is sitting with her (naked) fanny in the rainbow rice sensory bin so I guess that’s my cue to wrap this up. May your coffee be strong today, friends!
