WEEKEND REWIND

This weekend was low-key and totally focused on our family of three which was SO needed in the season we are in! We did hardly anything that seems blog-worthy but these times as just the three of us get more precious to me as this pregnancy progresses. Three quarters of the time I feel SO excited for our next chapter but then the other fourth I feel like I’m in mourning for our current family dynamic. I hope that makes sense and someone out there can relate! I know it’s going to be great but this mama has never been super excited for change.

Friday afternoon when Camden woke up from his nap at work I got dressed to go to the gym but then I remembered that the last few weeks I haven’t had him with me on Friday afternoon and haven’t seen any other kids in the childcare. He tolerates the gym when there are other kids but it’s usually a HARD no when he is the only one, which I get!

We opted for a stop at the playground instead and it was just what he needed. Nathan came home and we ordered in a stromboli to share for dinner because nothing we had here sounded good to the baby. 😉 We were both exhausted after a late-ish night on Thursday so we went to bed right after Camden. I think I fell asleep on the couch while Nathan was putting him to bed actually so that puts my bedtime at approximately 7:45 Friday night. Zero shame here.

Saturday morning we kept things super low-key with a late breakfast and a walk around our neighborhood “all together” as Camden said. Melt. The urge to nest and clean took over as soon as we walked back into the drive way so I detailed my car while the boys played and put away all the bins from my closet organization the week prior. I even scrubbed all the spots off the seats (using this amazing stain remover that I use for every single fabric ever. Carpet, clothes, all kinds of upholstery – it’s the best!), detailed small spaces with q-tips, and cleaned out the car seat. Shudder. Now I feel like a real adult with my clean car!

My back was starting to get sore once I was close to done with the car but I was a-ok with that because I was headed to a pre-natal massage around lunch! My sister-in-law gifted me one for my birthday and I finally cashed in on it. It was almost the best hour of my weekend.

That night we dropped Camden off with my in-laws and went on a much needed date night! A yummy Italian dinner and adult conversation was just what the doctor ordered to help us get back on track after a busy weekend of work travel and the daily grind. I wore this Amazon maxi dress and got SO many compliments on it while we were out. Fair warning, it’s LONG. Great for tall girls, but I am 5’4 and needed to hem it.

Sunday started the best way possible…with Camden sleeping in until 7:15! Blessed. Of course, I generally let him act as my alarm clock on the weekend (because he NEVER sleeps past 6:30) so we were running around like chickens with our head’s cut off to get out the door for church an hour later but it was worth it.

After church we came home and played outside which mostly meant walking various things around in the wagon. Camden and I came inside for lunch and I got started on some food prep for the week while Nathan mowed the grass.

It was interesting to see that the results of my Instagram Story poll on if you all food prep were split pretty much directly down the middle! I go through seasons where I’m better at it than others but I’ve been terrible lately and it shows on my body and in our bank account. I made our favorite Whole30 approved breakfast casserole and prepped everything for some delicious Whole30 buffalo chicken stuffed peppers for dinner. After making (and tweaking) those a few times now I feel like I’ve really perfected them to our taste and will post the recipe tomorrow! They are so delicious and the leftovers are just as good if not better so lunch is set for a few days, too. Those are the best kind of recipes in my opinion!

While Camden napped I got to work on this blog post while listening to the audiobook that I’M OBSESSED WITH. Seriously, so good. So much so that I listened to it at the gym later on in the afternoon during my workout which I would never normally do. It’s usually the more upbeat the music the better to keep my going.

I came home from the gym and after dinner, bath, and a little Coco watching our weekend as a family came to a close. Well, I guess not before Camden’s new nightly ritual of delaying bedtime by singing the ABCs to “baby Wucy” and telling her to “come out!” It works like a charm every night and I melt into a puddle on the floor. After getting Cam in bed Nathan and I hung out while watching Below Deck before calling it a night!

Recipe coming to the blog tomorrow! They don’t photograph that well but dang are they good.

Lest anyone think that Camden eats what we eat for dinner…hardly ever. Chicken meatballs, couscous, and oranges were on the menu for him.

I hope you all got some relaxing and restoring done this weekend as well! We’ve got a busy week of pre-school starting, several appointments, a wedding, AND getting ready for vacation next week. We can do this!!
