The title of this post gives you a little peek into the craziness that has been the month of May! Oh, also add in buying and selling two houses and the DRAMA that comes along with that. Whew! Here’s what we’ve been up to lately. (I’m going to try not to be nostalgic about our current home in every single description…)
Camden had his end of the year pre-school program! Even though he had been singing us the songs they performed for weeks at home his shyness got the best of him and he basically stood with his fingers in his mouth (???) the entire time. I don’t think he’s going to be the one to fulfill my hopes and dreams of having a theater kid but fingers crossed Lucy’s dramatic ways continue and are channeled into performing.

You know that standards are at an all time low when you consider this a great family photo!
Little sneak peek of the backyard at the new house. We are getting close to our closing date on both houses and to say it has been a really crazy, stressful process is an understatement. It’s probably only going to get more stressful for the next couple of months as we tackle the reno of the new house but it will be worth it! If nothing else it will make for some great before and after photos, ha! The back yard though guys…it’s a DREAM and totally sold us on the house. So at least we have that to look forward to!
Birthday celebrations also took up a good portion of our month! Camden turned three and I turned 31! We celebrated with a weekend full of friends, family, 3 parties, and a whole lot of fun!
We kept Camden’s “friend” party super low key with a trip to our local children’s museum and then walked to a nearby restaurant for a grilled cheese lunch. Topped off with cupcakes of course!
Watching your kid be loved by his friends and their parents is just the best!

After two Saturday parties (one with his friends and another with one side of my family) we woke up Sunday and it was Mother’s Day. Talk about cramming allll the celebrating into one weekend! The boys left bright and early to pick up some Parlor Doughnuts aka the most indulgent doughnuts ever. Cam was in heaven with this s’mores flavored one!

Sunday afternoon we hosted the rest of our family for a double birthday plus Mother’s Day celebration at our house. We celebrated with Camden’s (ok my) favorite double chocolate cake and a taco fiesta!

I can not believe my baby is THREE!
This boy is one of my absolute favorite people in the world. He and I are so similar it kind of freaks me out sometimes! He is a typical toddler boy in a lot of ways (toddler attitude and endless energy are at the top of that list) but he is also sweet, fun, polite, always down for an “adbenture,” and a loving big brother. Being his mom is the absolute joy of my life!
We’ve been soaking (literally) up the warmer weather with some fun new toys Camden got for his birthday! (Here’s where I get nostalgic) Looking at this photo makes me think of all the fun summers we have had in this house. The first (second and third) birthdays we have celebrated in this yard. The all weekend binges in the bounce house and blow up pool. Such sweet memories!
Little sister turned 6mo old on my birthday as well! Her personality is really starting to show and she is just the sweetest! Her smile lights up her whole face and she will give them to just about anyone…as long as mom is holding her. She is definitely starting to realize when she is separated from me.
She is also sleeping much better (only up once a night usually – though of course last night it was FOUR times), sits up unassisted, LOVES oatmeal with peanut butter and apple sauce mixed in but really has no desire for any other food (hence the face with the banana above), and can get around to pretty much any where she wants to go by rolling and scooting on her belly. She keeps us on our toes!
Another favorite birthday gift – Paw Patrol roller skates! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!
Of course we couldn’t skip over Camden’s actual birthday! He woke up May 16 to balloons outside his door and the train cookie cake he had been talking about since LITERALLY JANUARY. (Plus another Paw Patrol vehicle. They are taking over my house!) He still wants to pray for his “train birthday party” every single night before dinner so I’d say it was a hit!
Our birthday weekend was spent in Chattanooga celebrating my cousin’s wedding. The long drive and exhaustion from trying to tame a tired, rowdy three year old at a rehearsal dinner and wedding was SO worth it since (almost) my entire family was together for three days!

Before the wedding us girls went to the bride’s house to hang out while she and the wedding party got ready. Spending that extra time with her and my sisters (who all live FAR away from us now) was just the best! The boys had a fun morning at the Chattanooga Choo Choo with my parents.

Love these boys of mine! Lucy had fun playing with the other babies and sitters while we enjoyed the wedding. It was such a nice thing for my aunt to set up for us!
Summer is in full swing! I have a feeling it’s going to FLY by in a whirlwind of house renovations and moving so we are soaking up what we can right now. These sweet moments – playing outside before AND after dinner, wagon rides, popsicles, and begging to play with the hose – it’s seriously a dream and all I’ve ever wanted! The statement “the days are long but the years are short” is so popular for a reason. It’s the dang truth!
I hope you have been able to soak in the good in the midst of the busy lately as well. <3
