Well, look who’s here on a day other than a Friday! We’ve had such a fun few days I thought they deserved their own post. This summer has been packed, but not in our usual do-all-the-fun-things type of way. More like the selling, buying, and renovating a house type of way. But we had the best 4th of July weekend with the perfect mix of fun and relaxation.
We started the fourth with patriotic donuts, obviously. We didn’t have any plans until after nap so we went outside and swam (hopefully for the very last time) in our huge inflatable pool from last year. That thing has been worth it’s weight in gold. Lucy had her first water table experience then took a two hour morning nap. Hallelujah. Camden fell asleep on the couch after lunch which I don’t think has happened ever. #fourthinhard
Later in the afternoon Nathan’s mom came over to watch Lucy while Camden, Nathan, and I went to a friend’s house to swim and grill out. After a few hours of fun it was time to head home to change, put Lucy to bed, and head downtown to the fire works.
Camden had been talking about the fireworks for weeks last year’s school bus experience(thanks to ) so when our usual show was cancelled the previous night due to rain Nathan and I knew we were going to have to man up and go to our town’s show. Typically, we avoid the crowed, hot, walk-a-million-miles-from-your-car extravaganza but the weather was SO mild this year (like 77!!) that it was a super pleasant experience. Camden played with a few glow sticks from the dollar aisle while we waited then thoroughly enjoyed the display. We headed home to our baby girl after a very enjoyable 4th!

Friday, Nathan and I both worked half days. Lucy and I ran a few errands while Camden napped then we all went over to the new house to swim once he woke up. People keep asking us when they can come over to swim and our answer is always the same…when we have plumbing, lol. We make it work but I would never ask someone else to have their three year old pee in the bushes, you know?
We enjoyed the pool for a couple of hours. Camden has become obsessed with jumping off diving boards so he did that over and over while Lucy took a pool side nap. That girl is going to be a gem at the beach!

Saturday started with a Stroller Strides workout with both kids. We were right on time (a rare occurrence) and when I went to put Lucy in the stroller I noticed that she had a blowout on the way. I, of course, had used all my extra outfits the previous few days and had nothing to put her in. It was a pretty mild morning so I stuck her in the stroller with a muslin blanket and wiped her down with one of these and we soldiered on. Welcome to the circus, ya’ll!
Nathan met us after our workout and we knocked out a ton of errands ending with Chick-fil-a and a trip on the “round and round” (carousel) at the mall.
After nap it was time to party again! Our godson turned FIVE over the weekend and we celebrated by swimming and playing hard. I can not believe that nugget is five and heading to kindergarten!!

Sunday was the most chill day we have had in a long time and it. was. glorious. We came straight home after church and played outside for a bit before lunch. I got a call during lunch that the electrician was at the house and needed some guidance on a few things so I met him over there to talk some things through. Nathan put the kids down for naps while I was gone then headed to the house himself to mow when I got home. The rest of the afternoon was spent doing laundry, playing with the kids, and grilling turkey burgers for dinner.
This weekend really was exactly what we needed as a family after a CRAZY few weeks. Now to get back to it today! 11 days until we have to be out of our house (hmm I should probably pack a box or two) and 19 days until vacation! Make sure you head over to my Instagram Story to see the evolution of my vacation countdowns, ha!
