FRIDAY FIVE

Friday! We made it! It’s also 6:40am and Camden is still asleep so this might be the best Friday ever. Though, extra sleep does some times mean he’s sick soo…I’ll make sure to let you know if it was actually a good thing or not, ha!

Do you all have any major LDW plans? We were thinking of sneaking away to Louisville for the day but with where we are with the new house, I just don’t think we should. My contractor (aka step-dad) says there are plenty of jobs to do over there right now. So if you need me I’ll be over there sanding doors this weekend. Yay! Hopefully we will sneak in a little time at the pool too.

Literati
About a month ago, I talked about the subscription book service, Literati, we have been doing for the kids over on my Instagram. (That was a sponsored post but this is not. We are still using this service and loving it.) It’s basically like Stitch Fix for kids books and has been such a fun surprise every month! You pay $10/box (monthly, quarterly, one time, whatever), choose your age level, and they send you a box with personalized art & books stickers, plus 4-5 books that you can choose to buy or return. Camden’s first box was AWESOME and we ended up with this cool book that was perfect for our band-aid obsessed boy and a dinosaur dry erase book that was perfect for our long car trip to Captiva! Use our referral code here if you want to try it out!

Back to School
We’ve been “back to school” for three weeks now and while they haven’t been our best weeks (looking at you stomach bug, then crazy fever, and adjusting to a different nap schedule) we are starting to get into our grove. I think. Camden is going three full days this year so I’ve been able to work those days instead of trying to juggle both kids at work or figure out child care. We are continuously reevaluating but I think it’s going to work! He is thriving in his new class and I am obsessed with seeing what he learns and hearing snippets of his day. Last night he wanted to read the rhyme Bible on his night stand so we read the creation story. They are studying that at school, too so I got to hear a sweet song about it and an explanation on how flowers “boom” (NOT bloom 😉 ).

Recent Reads

Stranger on the Beach – Caroline’s perfect life is falling apart at the seems when one night she meets a stranger starting up at her beach house – things REALLY start to unravel after that. If you like suspense, pick this one up! It goes back and forth between two perspectives and had a little bit of a Gone Girl feel in that sense. Thanks for the rec, Meg!

Bachelor Nation – Even though I haven’t watched The Bachelor/Bachelorette in a couple of years, I’m still fascinated by it! This book is a behind the scenes look at all of it – how it got started, what really goes on behind the camera, and the brain science behind how on earth people can fall in love so quickly. It’s written by a journalist who has been covering the franchise for years and, even though I could have done without a few parts (the history of game shows for example) I thought it was a super interesting read!

UnHoneymooners – Not to tip my hand but I looooved this book! Olive and Ethan HATE each other but are forced to pretend to play nice when they get the opportunity to take a free trip to Hawaii. The only catch is they have to pretend to be honeymooners! This book was hilarious, sweet, and the perfect light read!

Home Update
Things are really moving along at the new house and the upstairs will actually be 90% done next week! We may actually move in but we are kind of waiting to see what that would really look like before we decide. We had so much trouble trying to figure out what to do with this weird bonus room area but I’m sooo happy with the way it has turned out. You used to walk through the fourth bedroom into the bonus room (weird) but now it’s flipped so you walk through the bonus room to get to the fourth bedroom plus we added a huge storage closet between the two.

If you are interested in the process so far I have three highlights saved over on Instagram (Home Reno 1, 2, and 3) with some closer look at what we’ve done!

H&M Cover Up
It may be a little late in the season to be sharing a cover up but I don’t know your life – maybe you are going somewhere warm soon?! Either way I’m obsessed with this pretty cover up from H&M and wanted to share with you all! Also, this is the mirror I’m working with right now which is why there are less mirror selfies around here lately! Also, please do not be jealous of our black sheet curtains. I an assure you my step-mother is mortified I put even a hint of those on the internet but look, babies gotta sleep.
