I see you Friday! Nathan was traveling again this week and came home to a chewed up sippy cup (our dog’s always and forever favorite) and the front door unlocked and open while I was at work so I think that sums up this week fairly well. Lucy’s sleep issues came to a head (being the only one home when the baby wakes up six times in one night will have that effect) and it’s becoming more clear every day that we’ve got to bite the bullet and potty train Camden for real. We are real deep in this parenting two small children thing, friends.
We have no real plans for the weekend but it’s supposed to warm up a little so we are going to take advantage of that and GET OUTSIDE. We’re all starting to go a little crazy from not enough fresh air and too much screen time.
1. After five days of close to zero sleep I bit the bullet and bought the Taking Cara Babies Navigating Months 3 & 4 sleep class. So many of you recommended this course to me when I’ve shared about the trouble we have had with Lucy’s sleep! And with good reason. I can not highly recommend this course enough! I won’t lie, the first night of implementing her strategy was hard (because I had been giving in and nursing Lucy to sleep 5+ times a night) but from that point on Lucy has been a completely different baby. She even went down for Nathan with zero trouble last night while I had a work meeting! Just one week ago she screamed at him for three hours at bedtime. There are classes for newborns (0-3 months), months 3 & 4 (that sleep regression is REAL), and 5-24 months all using very gentle methods. If you are a parent struggling with getting your baby to sleep or having them stay asleep, take. this. class. Best $30 I’ve spent in a looong time.
2. Blue light blocking glasses seem to be on everyone’s feed right now so I drank the kool aid and ordered myself a pair! They are supposed to help with eye strain and headaches from looking at the light from screens for too long. I’ve been using them for a week or so now and think they actually help! Worth a shot for under $20 with Prime shipping.
3. I recently started panicking about the state of my skin (like I woke up in a cold sweat about it one night and I’m not joking. #hormones). Almost 31 years of half-hearted skincare will do that to you, I guess. That and postpartum hormones, 16 weeks of very little sleep, and a tiny human sucking all the moisture out of your body. My skin has been a wreck this winter. One of my good friends recently started selling Beautycounter and let me borrow allll her goodies this week. I’ve heard about this line for years but always balked at the price point but it’s because this stuff really is THAT good. My favorite product so far has been this cleansing balm. It melts the makeup off your face without harsh chemicals, scrubbing, or even the traditional lather and rinse system of other cleansers! I uploaded a video using it over on my Instagram Story this morning if you want to check it out.
4. Does the cold weather make anyone else’s dog go absolutely INSANE? Tell me we’re not alone here. Percy hates the cold and wet weather and has a hard time wanting to go outside in the winter to do his business which leads to WAY more accidents than normal. I hate using harsh chemicals in our home (especially in the kid’s playroom where the majority of “accidents” happen) but my usual carpet cleaning method hasn’t been cutting it to get rid of the pee smell. I did some research on this site that compares and reviews pet-related items and a bottle of the Rocco & Roxie Stain & Odor Eliminator they rated 10/10 is on the way to us!
MUG | LID | MULES | JEANS | TOP
5. This Yeti mug has seriously ruined all other coffee mugs for me because of how long it keeps my coffee warm! I tend to sip my coffee over several hours but also like it to be HOT so I used to reheat my coffee at least 3x a morning. I never have to reheat it if I’m using this mug! Also do yourself a favor and upgrade to this lid. One of the main complaints I hear when I tell people about this mug is that it doesn’t fit in cup holders but I take mine in the car all the time. When I’m not drinking I close the lid and set it in my lap or the seat and haven’t had any spills!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
